If I had to pick a career in theatre I would pick an actor! I found this link that shows and explains what an actor is:
http://online.onetcenter.org/link/summary/27-2011.00
In order to pursue my dream in being an actor I would have to go to school for it, learn a whole bunch more about it, and then I would go from there. I learned a lot from this website, it was very helpful and such!

My personal responce to Rent!
I thought Rent was great! I think that it is considered a pivotal production because of the different language and because of how it takes place on the streets of New York! There is language and some different content! Conmpared to the movie I think that the show was better in some ways. Like I love Idina Menzel but I would have to say that in the play this Maureen was very good! On the other hand, I like Collins in the movie more than I liked actor in the play. Overall though, seeing it live was a lot better than just sitting down and watching it on t.v! I personally think that they show conveyed its message adequately. I talked to some people that were just completely against the show, but I personally loved it!
Rent history!
I found a site that explains Rent completely, especially the history!
http://www.siteforrent.com/abouttheshow/the-history-of-rent.html
I think that it is very helpful! While you are on that site you can look at pictures and read more about each person of the cast too!

Costume and make-up plot!
I know now what everyone is wearing and how everyone is going to look on stage during our performance. I think that it is going to be great. I am an ancestor and I love how we are on our own platform looking down at all of this. We are sitting on white blocks and we are wearing all white! It makes perfect since, we're in Heaven! I know that whenever I completely get into costume and make-up I really act like every rehearsal is a performance. I think that once we are in costume and make-up people will see what their character really is and they will understand a little bit more and not be kind of iffy.
Make-up time!
I found a great link that tells about the make-up for CATS!
href=http://grittlebone.tripod.com/makeupmain.html.
Okay so this is a great site! It actually shows each characters individual make-up! I know for a fact that make-up will play a big role in this play. Just about everyone in this play is Chinese, but none of could pass as Chinese. So I think that we will need amzing make-up, and I know we can do it!

I have to wear what?
Performance, tech, make-up, props, and ect. In the two shows that we have aready seen all of these elements came together. I mean face it if we didn't have even one of these we would have no show. In Stomp The tech was a big thing and was not a big thing. There were mics everywhere around the stage. There had to be in order to pick up all of the noises made by the cast members. But,there was no music. At the very beginning before the show started; sure there were a couple songs played but think the only sounds we heard during the show were made by the people and their props. So tech never had to worry about puting tracks on and such. Same with costumes, those clothes that the actors were wearing I can guarentee came out of their own closets. Set I think was the most difficult. I mean it was very detailistic. In Peter Pan I know that the tech was more complicated then in Stomp. The set was okay, and the costumes were great. In Mulan Jr. we have great set, tech, and costumes. I think that now everything is starting to finally come together and i think that if we were missng one of these elements the show would be okay, but not great! The show will be amazing!

Peter Pan!
I thought that Peter pan was okay! What I liked about the play was that there was actually flying. What i didn't like about the play was that Tinkerbell was just a light. I would make Tinkerbell an actual person if I were the director. Throughout the play I heard many peoples microphones fuzzing and it was quite distracting. There could have been better technology, but I did like the play overall!

SPOTLIGHT!
The one tech thing that i like the most is "Lights." I found a link that explains more in depth of what lights are about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stage_lighting.
I think that this website is very useful and helpful!
I now know that there is a lot more to lighting than what meets the eye! There are different peices of things that have to do with lights! I can see more of how the lights are applied now!

"Technical" Theatre!
Hello again! Now we are supposed to tell how we feel about the technical side of theatre! I personally like set and painting and such! It is very fun to me! I think that the technical side of theatre comes into play when on stage in the play Mulan because when doing set you make things that add a little extra to the show! We can get up on stage and do lines with as much enthusiasm as ever, but if there is no colors or backround the show will be super boringggg. So tech helps us a lot when it comes to show time! I plan on learning a lot more about tech! I think it is very interesting and I am very interested!

STOMP!
"Boom boom tick bam clash flick" "BANG!"- was what I heard a lot of last night at Stomp! You see that was my second time seeing Stomp, and I would see it ten more times in a heartbeat! The thing that I like the most about it was how much the actors-noise makers got into it. I mean don't get me wrong the sounds were amazing.........but the show just wouln't last without the acting of the performers! Acting just brings the music to life and it gets the audience excited and moving in their seats. I didn't dislike anything about the show at all. If I had to pick something to dislike though, it would probably be the little solos. There were not many solos and they were great sounds when they were taking place, but it was a lot more funny and exciting when the whole group was out there together! I love meeting the performers after the show. I liked how they shared the fact that they all switch part sometimes. I also liked learning about each one of them and learning how long they have been in Stomp. As I said this was my second time seeing this, and last time I was in fifth grade. I did recognize one or two of the performers from the last time. To me the only way that Stomp related to Greek or Kabuki theatre is because it is different from regular theatre. There really was no talking at all in Stomp and there was no singing. They made music with things you would not believe were possible to make music with. Something that I learned that would apply to our performance of Mulan was to always be big with your motions and lines, because these people were doing things as little as flicking little rectangle boxes, but they made those motions so incredibly big and that is why I think people like it.

Greek theatre anyone?
Greek theatre.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUjqsXvBLgU
This was a video that I found on Greek theatre!
The differnece between Greek and Kabuki was that Greek theatre would usually be a five day showcase that took place every March for the "greatest dramatists of the day." Kabuki was put together differently. Kabuki was more like shows that we do now at HLT. The similarity between Kabuki and Greek was that they are very differnet than the way things run in theatres now. Our theatres include women, and we have shows more often than just every March. Even though they did not include women in shows, I am going to have to say that I like kabuki theatre better because to me it just seems more intersting!

Kabuki theatre!
When I researched kabuki theatre I found a website that thoroughly explains what it is.
http://www.artelino.com/articles/kabuki_theater.asp
I found this site very useful, because it not only defines kabuki theatre but it shows pictures and examples of what it was like then.
I would have not liked kabuki theatre because women could only watch shows.
Women were not aloud to be onstage at all for any reason.

The story of Fa Mulan!
This is a website that sort of tells the story and gives backround information:http://www2.selu.edu/Academics/Faculty/elejeune/mulan.htm. On this website it also gives other websites for infomation on Fa Mulan. I thought that it was very helpful because it did not only tell about Mulan it also told about other related stories and books written by different authors.

Musical Theater Anyone?: Tuesday
I found information about musical theare at this adress: http://www.artslynx.org/theatre/musicals.htm. I really like this website because it does not only explain to you what musical theatre an theatre are but it gives history. It made me think about all of those perfessionals on broaway. I thought about how hard they work every day and how their life must work in order to be traveling, and on the stage all the time. It kind of changed my perceptions on musical theatre because now I have an idea of how musical theatre started and what made it happen. I now have a better understanding.
Starting off: Mondayy
Hello, as you may know, my name is Sydney Hitt. I love to sing, act, and dance, and I do things three things every day of my life. During this course I think that I will learn many things. I KNOW FOR A FACT that this cast will have tons of funnn! I think that this group of intellegent and talented young people will work well together. I also think that our play is going to be amazing. We have an amzing cast and crew that, with a couple days, can easily pull this off. Next is AUDITIONS......well the day before the auditions was like any other......day before audition day. I was nervous and I was stressing. Now I knew what to expect, I was going to audition for all of the girl parts including..haha you guessed it, Mulan. I knew going into this that I had some competition. When they finally came out at the end and called th
characters, and the people that got them. When I heard the name called for Mulan I really didn't know what to think. Actually to tell you the truth I was so excited for Olivia and being an Ancestor that I sort of brushed off me not getting Mulan. I think that everybody deserved what they got. I had a lot of fun and tried my best, my best got me into being an Ancestor. I am excited that I got chosen for a part that requires a strong voice. It is a challenge and I am always up for one of those. :-D So I would just like to congradulate everybody on their parts! I would also like to thank Laura, Lynsey, Tracy, and Kelly. They made wonderful decisions on who's who in the cast. I think that this year the blogfolios are cool because I just get to sit here and type what I want to about how I feel about this camp. Hopefully everybody else feels the same bout these cool little things. I have been onstage before too. I have been in one main-stage production, two show-stoppers productions, and this is my second prduction within the summer program. I was in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a main-stage prouction. I had so much fun with that cast. There were only a couple of teenager in it and the whole cast was very nice. I was in Cinderella wore Combat Boots, High School Muscial, and Into the Woods. I have had so much fun in every play that I have been in, and I expect to have just as much, or more, fun in this one. I think that this will be a better experience for each and eery single person in this camp. There are a couple of people in the camp that have been in the theater for a while, but every time I go in I learn something new, and I am sure that other people do too. I am realy excited and I cannot wait until show time! :)
